Jerry A. Wiese II, recently settled a wrongful death case for $2,650,000.00. He represented the parents of a 24 year old young man who was involved in a fatal rear-end car accident on U.S. 95. The young man had rear-ended another vehicle on U.S. 95, and the minor accident resulted in only minor property damage to the cars. While stopped in the fast lane, and while waiting in his car for the police to arrive, he was struck from behind by a commercial vehicle. As a result of that impact, the young man's car erupted into flames, and he unfortunately burned to death inside of his car.
The young man had recently graduated from UNLV, and had plans to attend law school. He was not married, and had no children. He was a swimming coach, and he worked at a retail store in the Forum Shops.
Experts retained by Mr. Wiese, shortly after the accident occurred, inspected the vehicles and the accident scene, obtained aerial photographs, and evaluated all of the evidence available. They determined that the vehicle which struck the young man's vehicle from behind, has been traveling at a speed in excess of 70 mph.
The District Attorney's Office decided not to prosecute the driver of the commercial vehicle. The young man's parents were very displeased by that decision, but there was nothing they could do. Jerry A. Wiese II, filed a lawsuit on behalf of the parents of the young man, and against the driver of the commercial vehicle, and the company which owned it. Thereafter, Mr. Wiese began negotiating with the four insurance companies involved in the case, and eventually, the case settled for a total of $2,650,000.00.
